Simply Stunning - this is Woods Cottage. Originally built in 1873 and extensively and lovingly refurbished using the best possible materials and to the highest standard in 2008, Woods Cottage is the perfect bolt-hole. Only yards from its own private foreshore, the two master bedrooms, kitchen, sitting room and dining room all face south to the tidal creek known locally as ‘My Lord’s Pond’.
The cottage consists of 4 bedrooms (one with en-suite basin and shower), TV snug, sitting room, master bathroom, additional WC, utility room, boot room / entrance hall and a spacious kitchen and dining area. With no immediate neighbours (our nearest neighbours are on the other side of the creek), you will feel an immediate sense of space and privacy, from the moment you arrive.
Kitchen Diner – The kitchen has been finished to the highest standards and is perfect for entertaining in. Natural materials such as solid Iroko wooden work surfaces and Brazilian mined green slate have been sourced to give the kitchen its unique feel. The large windows face both south onto Chichester Harbour and west across the lawn to the woodland of mature oak, lime and birch trees. When the tide is in you can sit and watch passing yachts and dinghies, as well as keeping an eye out for the natural woodland inhabitants, which include Buzzards, Woodpeckers, Herons, Egrets, Pheasants and Partridges to name but a few.
TV room / snug – This delightful room is the heart of Woods Cottage. Its a wonderful room in which to lounge in front of the open fire whilst reading a book or watching television on the large plasma screen. There is a DVD library and BT vision on demand service for a wide variety of entertainment for all ages of guest.
Sitting room - Like the TV room, there is a wonderful open fire in here and the windows face out onto the Creek. There are two large sofas and beanbags to accommodate all cottage guests. Whether it is a hot summer’s day with the sun and sea air streaming in through the south facing windows or the middle of winter, with the fires roaring, a glass of wine and good book in hand, both the snug and sitting room are great areas for you and friends and family to relax and enjoy each others company in.
Entrance Hall / Utility room – Woods Cottage is about the outdoor life! With this in mind, the entrance hall and utility room have been designed to be both welcoming and practical. Italian limestone flagstones and under floor heating will warm you up on cold days, along with the radiator bench seat created with wood from a four hundred and sixty year old yew tree. The utility room has full washing / drying facilities and a useful utility sink with butchers spray tap.
Bathroom – The master bathroom has been created to give you all the creature comforts you would expect in a five star hotel, with no expense spared. The two person bath has an in built whirlpool to relax you at the end of a hard day having fun! Honed solid Jerusalem limestone tiles have been used to give the bathroom natural warmth. If you haven’t got time to relax in the whirlpool bath, there is a twin headed Grohe shower unit above the bath.
Master bedroom – This delightful double room has its own en-suite shower and basin and a door in the west wall leads out to the large balcony area above the kitchen, perfect for sipping pre-dinner cocktails on, and watching boats go by on the creek before a summers evening bar-b-q!
Double bedroom 2 – This large second bedroom has windows facing both East and South, catching the morning sun as it rises over Chichester Harbour.
Small bedrooms – The two smaller bedrooms at the back of the cottage are quintessentially English country cottage in their style, decked in Rosemont pine and painted in Farrow and Ball cream, they are ideal rooms either for additional adults or for children. The views from the north facing windows look out onto the Woods and towards the duck pond.
Upstairs WC – situated between the two smaller bedrooms is an additional WC.
